Where and when
Manta rays are also a regular sight in South Ari, with sightings possible throughout the year at several cleaning stations around the atoll — some sites are more active earlier in the year, others later, so exact timing is best confirmed locally when you book.
What to expect at a cleaning station
At a cleaning station, manta rays hover in place while small reef fish clean parasites from their skin and gills — which is what makes these sites so reliable for sightings compared to open-water encounters. Because South Ari's stations sit close to shore and close to the surface, they're snorkel-accessible, not dive-only.
